How do I create custom fields for Conversations?

The matelso platform offers the possibility to not only evaluate conversations and contacts qualitatively, but also to classify them specifically using individual lead scoring. Fields such as notes, tags, and star ratings are already available as standard.

In addition, you can expand the lead scoring system with your own freely definable fields—for example, to indicate whether a customer is new or existing.

This article shows you step by step how to:

– Create an additional lead scoring field,
– Name it individually,
– Optionally configure it depending on the team
– and use it directly in an ongoing conversation.

You will find complete step-by-step instructions below. A video is also available:

1. Navigate to the lead scoring area

First, open the configuration menu:

Configuration → cData → Conversation

Here you will find all the fields that are used in lead scoring within conversations.

The following fields are already available there by default:

– Note field
– Tag field
– Star rating

These standard fields can be used directly and can also be expanded.

2. Create a new lead scoring field

Click on the “+” icon to create a new custom field.

For this example, we will create a yes/no field that indicates whether the customer is a new customer.

Select:

– Field type: Boolean (Yes/No)
– Database name: e.g., is_customer
– Display name (DE): New customer Yes/No
– Display name (EN): Customer Yes/No

Then click on “Create & Save.”

The new field will immediately appear in the lead scoring preview.

3. Optional team configuration

You now have the option to specify:

– which teams can see this field,
– and for which teams it should be a mandatory field.

This allows you to map individual lead scoring logic for different sales groups or product areas.

This configuration is optional and can be adjusted at any time.

4. Using lead scoring in a conversation

The new lead scoring field is now available directly in the current conversation.

Here’s how to use the feature:

– Navigate to a contact
– Start an outbound call
– Scroll down to the lead scoring area in the conversation window
– Select the appropriate value in the “New customer Yes/No” field

This allows you to record whether the customer is new or existing during the conversation.

Result

With individually expandable lead scoring, you can:

– Record additional qualification criteria
– Better structure sales processes
– Make your evaluations significantly more precise

New fields are immediately available in all relevant conversations and can be expanded dynamically.
