Accessibility Improvement Declaration (BFSG)

The Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG) reinforces our ongoing efforts to make digital content accessible to everyone. Accessibility is not a new topic for us – we have taken this declaration as an opportunity to review our existing measures once again and optimize them in a targeted manner.

We are actively committed to making our website and digital offerings accessible. In doing so, we are guided by the requirements of EN 301 549 (conformity level AA) and EU Directive 2019/882.

Measures for digital accessibility:

1. Alt text for images

Descriptive alternative text for all non-decorative images
Example: alt=”Three colleagues discussing project documents in the conference room”

2. Video subtitles & audio transcripts

Subtitles for all video content
Full text transcripts for audio content such as podcasts

3. Color contrasts

Minimum contrast of 4.5:1 between text and background

4. Scalable layout

Correct display at 200% zoom
No loss of content or functionality

5. No purely visual cues

Additional text-based information for color or graphic cues
Example: “Important note (marked in red)” instead of just red color

6. Keyboard operation

Full navigation possible without a mouse
Access to all functions via keyboard control

7. Visible focus indicators

Clear visual marking of focused elements
Example: clear frames around selected buttons

8. Flashing elements

Maximum flashing frequency of 3x per second
Avoidance of potentially dangerous animations

9. Language specification

Correct language definition in the HTML source code
Example: <html lang=”en”> for English-language content

10. Semantic HTML

Structured use of HTML5 elements Correct
use of <header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>

11. ARIA roles

Supplementary use of ARIA attributes
Only if native HTML alternatives are missing
